Second place: Jasper Grossman, 12, Santa Fe County, Desert Academy, 7th grade

Third place: Brooke McBurney, Valencia County, Daniel Fernandez Elementary, 6th grade

Fourth place: Patrick Denne, 13, Taos County, Penasco Middle, 8th grade

Fifth place tie: Chris Hunter, 13, Santa Fe County, Ortiz Middle, 8th grade

Kathryn Kasky, 13, Valencia County, Los Lunas Middle, 7th grade

Jared Sanders, 14, Valencia County, Los Lunas MIddle, 8th grade

Hannah will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be televised on Thursday, June 3 on ESPN about mid-day and on ABC in the evening.

All three Valencia County spellers finished in the top 5. That's a first for a county other than Bernalillo!

This year was Hannah's second year to earn a spot in the NM Bee and Kathryn's third.

Jasper, Booke and Kathryn are eligible to participate again next year.
